I wondered if the Internet Archive had old versions of this site for everyone here to peruse through. It turns out they crawled this site multiple times (those horndogs, lol). So, rather than solely having to rely upon my collection of por-… uh, "archives", now here's a secondary source. ;)
It's only been around 6 years, so there's not much to see. Also, they haven't saved most of the pictures (that I have). But, at the same time I'll post some screenshots of my recently saved files for you to enjoy. Let me know if you also want screenshots from further in the past.
Maybe some of the previous regulars can comment on how the site was made, maintained, crashed, and such. Also, what happened to Tanz, Rexxar, and_is_w!kemono, baralover, etc…?

what is the point in archiving the pictures in a wayback machine if the pics are broken and we can't see them anymore
Did you mean why they, IA, didn't save them? I'm not sure, but maybe they need to conserve resources. Saving the mini versions is easier than the larger ones, I guess. Even I, back then, couldn't do every thread.
Or, because this is an image-board, they thought this place was like 4- or 8-chan, and such, where everything's mostly temporary. Even the "chan-archives" (fireden, desu, 4plebs…) don't save everything (like /b). Who knows?
If we are talking history in general then the xibia was predated by the IB4F /bara0/ board, to those not in the know, IB4F was basically proto-8chan so anyone could make a board, if i remember shit right that one was 2009-2010, a rather brief period but a notable one since from what i remember bara threads on /y/ frequently directed people there while it existed, and i doubt it has archives, but heres the dead link for anyone curious.http://imageboard4free.com/board/bara0/
U-18chan also has roots there IIRC.
Thanks a lot for that contribution, I appreciate it! I don't remember visiting that site, but it looked like it could've hit the spot in those days. The Wayback Machine did archive it to some degree, and the last snapshot seems to have been in Aug. 2010, and only goes back to around Sept. 2009. There's no pictures, unfortunately, but at least we can still see discussions, lol. ;)https://web.archive.org/web/20100822072854/http://imageboard4free.com:80/board/bara0
I remember that there was a very short lived forum before it was moved to xibia. Sadly they didn't migrate the posts to xibia and the forum does not have an archive that exists. Afaik anyway.
I remember the forum had an orange theme.
wow i remembered the days of bara0 and the previous iteration (before ib4f) where VERSUS was admin. i dont remember where it was hosted, however. i couldnt help you there. But, thank you for sparking those memories again :)
>>469>Also, what happened to Tanz, Rexxar, and_is_w!kemono, baralover, etc…?
We all actually grew up and have adult shit to do irl
Also, this iteration of barachan didn't exactly do a good job of making people aware of its existence, and Twitter / Discord is mostly a more personal fulfilling way of communicating with peers that share your interests and are actually interested in you
Give it a year or two. Just need a big Bara release and this board will get more visitors
there used to be a baraboard with prominent chris redfield worships that sparks multiple threads dedicated to him with that 3d renders and stuff. anyone know what board was that? It was somewhere 2009, but I think it already existed prior to that. and then there's this website/blog with takeshi matsu scanlations as the main theme of it's content.
If you mean Baralover with a capital B from the old boards, I'm right here.
It's good to see you stuck around. I saw your posts in /alt, so thanks for that. ;) I wonder how many unique posters are on this site. I know it's not as active as the Discord channel, but scrolling up is a pain there. Which is funny since that site still has messages from 2017, a better record than here. lol
I've been around since 2011 or so through 4chan's /y/. I don't even remember what image board it was hosted on, but once that died out, I remember IB4F/bara or something from that time. Also another board that I was acquainted with, notOP who often posted furry bara on off-topic/shitty /mu/ threads, was an admin.
>Also, what happened to Tanz, Rexxar, and_is_w!kemono, baralover, etc…?
and_is_w is on Twitter, happily retweeting furry art. He's not interested anymore in updating multiple threads, and its more efficient to just follow him there. Still super nice to talk to, if a bit shy.
the earliest bara board iteration (or at least, the earliest english-language one to gain traction) was on AnonIB, that was back in like 2008-ish i think
You're right, good for him, and he does still have good taste. Thanks for telling me. If anyone else is interested, he's here…https://twitter.com/and_is_w>>569>>572
It's true, more visitors mean more posters. But somehow this place currently feels a bit more comfortable than 4chan, u18chan, or whatever. Is it just me, or does anybody else feel that way?
You know, it's kinda funny cause I do remember a bara forum arround 2012~2013 that closed down all of a sudden, but it ended up leading me to the bara xibia, but I also lost a good chunk between that and barachan 2.0, but been here ever since, never bothered to register though…
And that one got shut down twice for child porn on another board, right?>>538
Wow, I completely forgot about IB4F, was that the one that let us put 5 images in a single post?
I've noticed that the Internet Archive's Barachan snapshots end at late last year, so I've decided to visit some boards and threads within it to force some updates. It'd be great if everyone here can do the same. Just enter the thread's address at the top of the page here…https://web.archive.org/
…then press "Save this url in the Wayback Machine", and when the page is saved then press "Expand all images", so it'll hopefully save them at full res (but I doubt it). We almost never have to worry about another outage again. Well, sort of. lol
I crawled the /2D board. Many pages weren't crawled in a year. For any missing threads, pics, or vids, tell me or save them yourself here… https://web.archive.org
Link to the snapshots… https://web.archive.org/web/20190531001122/http://boards.barachan.org/2D/index.html
/3D and /fur boards are next.
There were two boards before this link started. Lemme try to see if I can find them to help you out.
First one was on anonib.org/anonib.com. Wayback doesn't have it archived. The whole board was taken down for CP and shit, so it makes sense. lol
The second one is on the archive. I've been to it before. The link should still be on my old laptop. I'll hop on the thread whenever I boot it back up.
I crawled all through /3D and now it's saved. It also hadn't been saved in over a year.
Link to the snapshots… https://web.archive.org/web/20190614070128/http://boards.barachan.org/3D/index.html
but give it a few days.>>1327>>1329
Thanks, I'd appreciate it! :)
Now if only u18chan has archives
I crawled through the /rs board, but a few threads were tricky to save, like the cosplayer, Tumblr daddy, and some ID requests. Check this link to help verify…https://web.archive.org/web/20190624071540/http://boards.barachan.org/rs/catalog.html
An easier way to save threads is to add their address after this… https://web.archive.org/save/
like this… https://web.archive.org/save/http://boards.barachan.org/rs/catalog.html>>1373
That'd be nice. ;)
